The Heather Hopper is a community minibus which has helped to connect socially isolated older people living in the beautiful Esk Valley, which is a very rural part of the North Yorkshire Moors, for 15 years.

We run outings such as; lunches, shopping trips, cinema, theatres, concerts, coffee mornings, garden centres, weekly swimming trips, aqua fit, and many, many more places of interest.

Our focus is to provide a service to local people which will help connect communities, reduce isolation and increase a sense of wellness for our wonderful local people!

We are always on the look out for more volunteers to join us in offering support to our local community. However much time you have available to give, you will be making an incredible difference to a group of wonderful individuals from the Esk Valley – visit our volunteers page for more information on how you can get involved.

During the COVID-19 lockdown, we have started delivering delicious meals to single, older and isolated people in the local area. A big thank you to The Eskdale – Castleton for doing the cooking for us and all the suppliers: Hodgson’s fish, QFS, Camphill Village trust, Danby Castle, Lillie’s Provisional & Lealhom shop. Also a big thank you to all our volunteers and to Westerdale Village Hall, Castleton Co op and Cllr. Clive Pearson. Please contact Linda on 01287 660700 if you know anyone who would benefit from our ‘Meals on the Bus go Round’ service.

We are always grateful for any support! If you would like to donate online to our JustGiving page click here.
